What We Believe
Describing all the nuances of belief within a Living Tradition on
a web page is like trying to condense an individual's personality into a few
sentences. Nevertheless, we hope that this summary gives an idea about our
beliefs.
Foxwood maintains a traditional approach to the teachings of the
Old Religion, which are "elegantly simple, but profoundly complex in
their simplicity." We live our commitment to the spiritual teachings and
lifestyle inherent in the Old Religion, as these teachings are neither a political
statement nor the basis of a counter-culture, but rather contain the essence of
a time-honored spiritual tradition.
In short, we believe in:
* Service to the divine and all of creation through active
participation in sacred work.
* Honoring of and communion with our ancestors: past, present,
and future.
* Living life by a strict ethical code embodied by personal
responsibility and ensouled by the Tenets of our line.
Through learning to live a balanced life in harmony with the
world around us, and by showing tolerance and humility in all that we do, we
are able to foster spiritual wholeness based on principles of love and perfect
love as well as trust and perfect trust.
Our practices seek spiritual alignment and attunement with
forces, seen and unseen, that provide lessons of timeless mysteries and magick
that we, in turn, align and attune within others. In the aspect of Foxwood as a
teaching coven, we are mindful that we are students of life and students for
life.
As witches, we gather together to honor the cycles of nature and
to perform active works of magick, but we also acknowledge that as spiritual
beings within physical form, we not only work magickÉ we are magick.
